DHAKA: Young left-arm paceman Mustafizur Rahman is now being hailed across the cricket world in Twitter as he set the world record in ODI taking 11 wickets in two consecutive matches at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium.
Mustafiz is, of course, the hero as his career-best figures of six for 43 in the 2nd ODI match led Bangladesh a maiden series victory over India on Sunday in Mirpur.
Sanjay Manjrekar tweeted, “2 five wicket hauls in his 1st two matches on 2 flat pitches. Brilliant stuff from Mustafizur! A 19 yr old with the accuracy of a veteran.”
Aakash Chopra wrote on his Twitter page, “This is unbelievable stuff...really believed that Indian batsmen will decipher Mustafizur's slower-ones this time around. How wrong was I?”
Mustafizur Rahman now holds the world record of taking most wickets in first two matches of ODI career.
ICC in its Twitter account stated, “Mustafizur Rahman becomes just the 2nd player in ODI history to take two 5 Wicket hauls in his first 2 ODIs #BANvIND” (Sic)
Harsha Bhogle tweeted, “This is a sensational debut for Mustafizur. And he's taken big wickets.”
Mohandas Menon wrote, “Mustafizur Rahman and Zimbabwean Brain Vitori are only two bowlers to take two 5-wkt hauls in their first two ODI games”
