Want to play with confidence: Mashrafe

DHAKA: Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said whatever the previous statistics had said we want to play with the strong confidence against visiting South Africa.

The first T20 match of two match series between Bangladesh and South Africa will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Sunday.

The captain of Tigers expressed his confidence on Saturday at a pre-match press conference before the match.

Mashrafe said, “We had played well in series against India. The experience will help us for better performance against South Africa.”

Lauding South Africa, the captain added that the visiting team is clearly ahead of us. South Africa have strong batting, lethal bowling attack and all-round fielding.  Therefore, we will have to play better in the field though visitors are capable to save 15 to 20 runs against any team.

Mashrafe said, “I want to say to my teammates, continue play the game with courage. We are in winning track; we will have to try our best to continue it.”

Bangladesh will play two T20 and then three one-day internationals against South Africa before finishing off with two test matches.

The T20s will be played at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur which will also host the first two ODIs.

Then the two teams will move to Chittagong for 3rd and final ODI and then the first test match. Later, Mirpur will host the final test match.
