DHAKA: Bangladesh have taken six wickets in the first day of the first test against visiting South Africa in two-match series at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong Tuesday.

19-year old debutant Mustafizur Rahman took three wickets -- Amla, Duminy and Q de Kock -- in four balls in his first over after the Tea break.

Before the Tea break, Shahid stifled the visitors and built pressure with five straight maidens after lunch and six straight maidens across two sessions, after which Taijul and Shakib made the incisions. While Elgar nicked off Taijul’s delivery, Faf was pinned lbw by Shakib.

Earlier, Mahmudullah took the wicket of Stiaan van Zyl in an innocuous arm-ball, sliding down leg in the first session. Stiaan sought to glance it away fine. Instead, the ball brushes the face and Litton took it, moving to his right.

South Africa scored 175-run losing six wickets after 62-over. The opening stand was broken on 58-run. Currently, Timba Bavuma and Philander are on the crease with 26 and 2 runs respectively.

Earlier in the day, South Africa captain Hashim Amla won the toss and choose to bat first in the match that started at 9:30am local time.

Meanwhile, was the only debutant across both sides.

Bangladesh coach Chandika Hathurusingha believes that the series will be decided by how well the hosts handle South Africa’s ‘world-class pace attack’.

Bangladesh will seek to carry their limited-overs success into Tests and build solidity. They will have to contend with a South African side reinforced by the arrival of Dale Steyn, who has begun the four-finger countdown to get his 400 test wickets.
