DHAKA: Bangladesh took a 78-run lead in their first innings of the first test against visiting South Africa at Zahur Ahmed Stadium in Chittagong Thursday.
In response to 248, South Africa scored in their first innings, tigers reached 326-run losing all wickets after 116.1-over. Liton Das scored his maiden half century while Mohammad Shahid hit a brisk 25 off 19-ball with the help of four 4’s and one 6.
Besides, Shakib Al Hasan amassed 47 and Mushfiqur Rahim 28 runs respectively. Steyn and Harmer picked up three wickets each while VD Philander took one and Elgar and van Zyl took one wicket each.
South Africa have started their batting in the second innings.
Earlier on Wednesday, Tamim scored 57 off 129 balls before D Elgar had bowled him out. The host lost its fourth wicket as Mahmudullah got trapped lbw by Philander. The opener however took the highest 67 runs of 138 balls.
On Tuesday, the visitors were all out for 248 in their first innings as debutant Mustafizur Rahman bagged 4 wickets and Jubair 3 wickets. South Africa captain Hashim Amla won the toss and elected to bat first in the first Test.
Mustafizur Rahman took four wickets while Jubair Hossain picked three wickets.
