DHAKA: Dashing Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal returned to pavilion early in the first innings of the second test against visiting South Africa at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stafium in Mirpur in city on Thursday.
He scored only 6-run. Dale Steyn took the wicket and on the way entered the elite club of 400 wickets in Test Cricket.
Steyn became the second South African to get to the landmark, after Shaun Pollock. Joint second-fastest in terms of Test matches, alongside New Zealand’s Richard Hadlee and behind Muttiah Muralitharan from Sri Lanka, to the mark, and fastest in terms of balls.
Currently, Imrul Kayes and Mominul Haque are on the crease with 12 and 10 runs respectively. Bangladesh have scored 34-run losing one wicket.
Earlier, Tigers started their innings after Mushfiqur Rahim won the toss and elected to bat first in the match that started at 9:30am local time.
Bangladesh have shored up their batting, with Nasir Hossain replacing Taijul Islam while South Africa have a change behind the sticks, with Dane Vilas making his debut, replacing Quinton de Kock.
