DHAKA: The second day's play in the second Test between Bangladesh and South Africa at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur was called off due to rain on Friday.
Bangladesh could not resume their first innings as the entire morning session of the second day's play was washed out due to heavy showers due to influence of the cyclone 'Komen'..
Both teams remain at the hotel as it has been raining cats and dogs since Thursday night.
Earlier, Bangladesh scored 246 runs losing eight wickets at stumps on Day-1 of the first inning after tiger captain Mushfiqur Rahim won the toss and elected to bat first in the match.
Mushfiq 65, Mominul 40, Mahmudullah 35, Shakib 35 helped Tigers to make the score in 88.1 overs as Steyn and Duminy bagged three wickets each.
Nasir Hossain was at the crease with 13 run off 40 balls after Mohammad Shahid bowled by Dale Steyn.
Steyn became the second South African to get to the landmark, after Shaun Pollock.
Joint second-fastest in terms of Test matches, alongside New Zealand’s Richard Hadlee and behind Muttiah Muralitharan from Sri Lanka, to the mark, and fastest in terms of balls.
