DHAKA: The Test series between Bangladesh and South Africa ended in a draw after rain had washed out plays both of its Chittagong and Dhaka matches.
After the three successive washed-out days, the final day was also called off Monday before the scheduled start of play due to a wet outfield at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
Mushfiqur Rahim was adjudged Player of the Match, while the Player of the Series goes to Dale Steyn.
Later, the both captains hold the trophy for the cameras. At the presentation ceremony, Mushfiqur Rahim said "There are a couple of areas we need to work on. Lot of positives as well, playing against the best team in the world, the boys will take lot of confidence out of that. It is a learning curve for us still in Test cricket, hopefully we can take some positives against the Australians. Hopefully that time the weather will be fine."
Hashim Amla said "To have four days rained out is unusual. Whatever happened, happened. The cricket has been tough. We enjoyed our stay here. Dale getting 400 is the highlight for us. We thank the groundstaff, the amount of effort they put in to try and get some play. We have got a series against New Zealand to prepare for. Our bowlers really toiled, this was a tough wicket to bowl on. Everybody tried their best. One thing I cannot fault is the effort our team always gives."
Bangladesh scored 246 runs losing eight wickets at stumps on Day-1 of the first inning after tiger captain Mushfiqur Rahim won the toss and elected to bat first in the match.
Mushfiq 65, Mominul 40, Mahmudullah 35, Shakib 35 helped Tigers to make the score in 88.1 overs as Steyn and Duminy bagged three wickets each.
Nasir Hossain was not out with 13 runs.
Steyn became the second South African to get to the landmark, after Shaun Pollock.
Joint second-fastest in terms of Test matches, alongside New Zealand’s Richard Hadlee and behind Muttiah Muralitharan from Sri Lanka, to the mark, and fastest in terms of balls.
The first Test ended in a draw in Chittagong last week after bad weather washed out play on the last two days.
