DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Monday sent cricketer Shahadat Hossain to jail in a case filed on allegation of ‘torturing domestic help’.
Earlier in the morning, he surrendered before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court and filed a bail petition.
But metropolitan magistrate Yusuf Hossain ordered to send him to jail rejecting the bail plea after hearing.
On the other hand, another accused of the case Jesmin Jahan Nitya, wife of cricketer Shahadat, has already landed in jail.
The same court on Sunday sent Nitya to jail rejecting a five-day remand petition filed by police.
However, it asked police to quiz her at jail gate for three days within five working days.
Mirpur Model Thana police detained Jesmin Jahan Nitya in the case filed on allegation of ‘torturing domestic help’ early Sunday.
