DHAKA: Industries minister Amir Hossain Amu categorically said that the tannery owners, who have not begun shifting their factories from Hazaribagh to Baliarpur in Savar, will lose their plots.
The procedures of canceling the plots have already started, he added.
The minister came up with this assertion at a meeting with the leaders of Bangladesh Finished Leather, Leather Goods and Footwear Exporters Association (BFLLFEA) at the ministry in city around on Tuesday (January 12).
After the meeting, BFLLFEA chairman Mohiuddin Mahmud Mahin told the reporters that the association will not recommend for the tannery owners, who did not start shifting yet.
When the reporters asked the minister in this issue he replied that he will give statement after the completion of 72-hour ultimatum.
Earlier on Sunday, the minister threatened the tannery owners to cancel their plots if they do not shift from Hazaribagh to Savar by 72 hours.
