Stocks start week negative

DHAKA: Investors witnessed fall in benchmark indices of the country’s bourses -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- on Sunday.

DSEX, the broad index of DSE, shed over 20.12 points only to stand at 4674.82 at the close of the first trading day of the week.

Trade deals stood at 133810 with volume of transactions at Tk 5126.155 million.

Of the issues traded, 119 advanced, 182 declined and 22 remained unchanged.

EMERALDOIL topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 369.84 million having changed hands.

The other turnover leaders were UPGDCL, BDTHAI, GOLDENSON, ITC, ALLTEX, DACCADYE, QSMDRYCELL, SQURPHARMA and TALLUSPIN.

Chittagong stocks also followed the suit, with the CSE Selective Categories Index climbing down to 8688.69 by dropping over 49.13 points.
 
Out of the issues traded, 74 gained, 142 declined and 32 remained unchanged.
