DHAKA: Finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith categorically said banking services are yet to reach the doorsteps of the common people despite having 56 banks in the country.
He made this assertion at inaugural ceremony of Janata Bank’s annual conference at a hotel in the capital on Wednesday (February 3).
The finance minister said, “Banking service must reach to people’s door steps and it should be more smooth and easy aiming to make the country financially self-dependent”.
State minister for finance MA Mannan was present as special guest at the program, presided by the bank’s directorial body chairman Sheikh Wahiduzzman.
Secretary of financial institution of finance ministry Dr M Aslam Alam and Janata Bank chief executive officer (CEO) and managing director (MD) Abdus Salam were also present among others.
