DHAKA: The oil-rich Middle Eastern country Qatar is interested to recruit 3-lakh Bangladeshi manpower within two years.
Salesmen, nurses, engineers and office employees will be given preference in the recruitment.
A joint-working group meeting in this regard is expected to be held in Dhaka in the first week of March.
Qatar administrative development minister Dr. Issa Saad Al-Jafali Al-Nuaimi made this disclosure at a meeting with visiting expatriates' welfare and overseas employment minister Nurul Islam BSc in Qatar on Wednesday.
The Qatar minister praised the skill and devotion for work of Bangladeshi workers and his counterpart expressed gratitude for recruiting 1.23 lakh manpower in 2015.
Apart from this, Dr. Issa Saad Al-Jafali Al-Nuaimi said lot of development works have been taken ahead of 2022 Football World Cup in the country where they could give opportunity to skilled and semi-skilled manpower from Bangladesh.
On Thursday (February 4), Bangladesh minister Nurul Islam will meet Qatar’s Prime Minister Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani.
On the following day, the minister is scheduled to leave for Dhaka after a three-day visit.
