Gold price spikes to Tk 1,225 per bhori

DHAKA: Bangladeshi gold merchants have raised the price of gold by around Tk 1,225 per bhori (11.664 grams) as it became costlier in the international market.

This is the third time increase of the gold price this year.

Gold in the local market will be sold at Tk 44,965 per bhori of 22-carat from Saturday (February 13) on.

Bangladesh Jewelers Samity (BJS) informed the matter in a press release on Thursday (February 11).

In the release, BJS said that the newly fixed prices of different carats of gold are: a bhori of 21-carat gold is Tk 42,865, 18-carat Tk 36,217, and the traditional gold Tk 25,136.

Earlier on February 4, price of gold had been hiked.

Different carats of gold were: a bhori of 22-carat gold is Tk 43,740, 21-carat Tk 41,640, 18-carat Tk 34,992 and the traditional gold Tk 23,911.
