BENAPOLE (JESSORE): Export and import activities through Benapole land port of Jessore district has been suspended for the third consecutive day due to strike called by the traders of Petrapole port in India.
Port sources said a newly constructed truck terminal named Susanhata Check-post, was inaugurated at Petrapole port on February 12.
Later, the port authority increased the parking charge of trucks upto three times.
Protesting the increase of parking charges, the Indian traders enforced the strike on February 13.
Later, the traders withdrew the strike after receiving assurances from the port authority about decreasing the charge.
However, the traders once again enforced the strike from Monday (February 15) as the Petrapole port authority did not decrease the truck parking charge.
