DHAKA: BRAC Bank Limited has recently honored top women bankers and SME women entrepreneurs as part of International Women’s Day celebration.
The bank’s Women Forum “Tara” organized the program titled “Meet The Stars” at its Head Office on March 23, says a press release issued on March 24.
BRAC Asia’s deputy managing director Humaira Azam, head of operations of The City Bank Mahia Juned and head of corporate affairs of Standard Chartered Bank Bitopi Das Chowdhury were present at the program.
They also participated in a view exchange session where they shared their inspiring story with the women employees of BRAC Bank.
BRAC Bank also honored three most successful women SME customers -- Farzana Ahmed, owner of Utshab Enterprise, Najma Arif, owner of Nikhut Crafts, and Mahbuba Ohid, owner of Tajmahal Printing Works.
BRAC Bank’s Acting Managing Director & CEO Mamdudur Rashid handed over the awards to the women bankers and SME entrepreneurs.
Head of Communication & Service Quality Zara Jabeen Mahbub and Tara’s Chairperson Nurun Nahar Begum were also present here.
As part of the celebration, BRAC Bank also organized a Bake n Sale where Tara members sold homemade food items at head office premises.
The participating women bakers will donate the entire amount collected from the food sale to a charity, Upolobdi, a Chittagong-based organization that shelters lost children in their rehabilitation centre.
With more than 1,200 members, BRAC Bank’s Tara is the largest private sector women bankers’ network in the country.
The platform was created for facilitating career development and professional excellence through sharing of experience and networking among women bankers of the bank.
At Tara, BRAC Bank’s female employees share challenges and concerns that they face within or outside the bank.
