Bourses ends week in red

DHAKA: Both the bourses -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- witnessed fall in share prices indices on Thursday (April 21), the fifth and final trading session of the week.

DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), shed over 19.05 points or 0.43 percent to stand at 4340.34 points at the end of day’s trading.

Trade deals stood at 114,520 with transaction at over Tk 4169.13 million. Of the issues traded, 94 advanced, 181 declined and 40 remained unchanged.

MJL Bangladesh Limited topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 205.28 million having changed hands on the day.

Other toppers of the market were United Power Generation & Distribution Company Ltd., BSRM Steels Limited, Bangladesh National Insurance Company Limited, Jamuna Oil Company Limited, Doreen Power Generations and Systems Limited, ACI Limited, Beximco Pharmaceuticals, Square Pharmaceuticals and LankaBangla Finance Ltd.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), however, lost points in trading, as CSCX, the prime index of the port city bourse, lost over 21.53 points to stand at 8127.91.

Of the issues traded in the port city share market, 69 gained, 140 declined and 27 remained unchanged. The total value of exchange was over Tk 236.65 million.
