Stocks witnessing loss at opening

DHAKA: The two bourses of the country -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – are witnessing loss of share prices indices on Monday (May 2), the first trading session of the week as Sunday was a holiday.

DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), shed over 47.07 points or 1.12 percent to stand at 4148.61 points at 12:12pm.

Trade deals stood at 31,723 with transaction at over Tk 1027.44 million. Of the issues traded, 50 advanced, 207 declined and 25 remained unchanged.

MJL Bangladesh Limited topped the turnover list on the day.

Other toppers of the market were Linde Bangladesh Limited, Doreen Power Generations and Systems Limited, The IBN Sina, ACI Limited, Confidence Cement, BSRM Limited, United Power Generation & Distribution Company Ltd., IFAD Autos Limited and Emerald Oil Industries Ltd.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also followed the trend as CSCX, the prime index of the port city bourse, lost over 77.43 points to stand at 7772.75 at 12:10pm.

Of the issues traded in the port city share market, 30 gained, 121 declined and 16 remained unchanged. The total value of exchange was over Tk 54.85 million till then.
