Bourses witness gain Monday

DHAKA: The two bourses of the country -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- witnessed gain in share prices indices on Monday (May 16), the second trading day of the week.

DSEX, the prime index of DSE, gained over 13.16 points or 0.30 percent to stand at 4288.64 points at the end of day’s trading.

Trade deals stood at 78,122 with transaction at over Tk 2,886.41 million. Of the issues traded, 167 advanced, 95 declined and 53 remained unchanged.

Bangladesh Building Systems Ltd. topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 139.42 million having changed hands on the day.

Other toppers of the market were United Power Generation & Distribution Company Ltd., Doreen Power Generations and Systems Limited, Linde Bangladesh Limited, BSRM Limited, Square Pharmaceuticals, IT Consultants Limited, BRAC Bank Ltd., Summit Alliance Port Limited and Olympic Industries

Meanwhile, the CSE also followed the trend as CSCX, the prime index of the port city bourse, acquired over 31.32 points to stand at 8036.01 on Monday.

Of the issues traded in the port city share market, 113 gained, 83 declined and 40 remained unchanged. The total value of exchange was over Tk 152.57 million on the day.
