DHAKA: The two bourses of the country -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- witnessed gain in share prices indices for the second day on Tuesday (May 17), the third trading day of the week.
DSEX, the prime index of DSE, gained over 37.99 points or 0.88 percent to stand at 4326.63 points at the end of day’s trading.
Trade deals stood at 82,738 with transaction at over Tk 3,020.25 million. Of the issues traded, 185 advanced, 79 declined while 49 remained unchanged.
Lafarge Surma Cement Ltd. topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk110.09 million having changed hands.
Other toppers of the market were Doreen Power Generations and Systems Limited, Bangladesh Steel Re-Rolling Mills Limited, United Power Generation & Distribution Company Ltd., Square Pharmaceuticals Limited, Linde Bangladesh Limited, Bangladesh Export Import Company Ltd., Beximco Pharmaceuticals, Premier Cement Mills Limited and Unique Hotel & Resorts Limited.
Meanwhile, the CSE also followed the trend as CSCX, the prime index of the port city bourse, acquired over 72.03 points to stand at 8108.04.
Of the issues traded in the port city share market till then, 133 advanced, 70 declined while 36 remained unchanged. The total value of exchange was over Tk181.28 million.
