DHAKA: The two bourses of the country -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- witnessed gain in share prices indices for the third day on the trot on Wednesday (May 18), the fourth trading day of the week.
DSEX, the prime index of DSE, gained over 37.67 points or 0.87 percent to stand at 4364.31 points at the end of day’s trading.
Trade deals stood at 101,561 with transaction at over Tk 3,612.98 million. Of the issues traded, 196 advanced, 82 declined while 41 remained unchanged.
Lafarge Surma Cement Ltd. topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk191.66 million having changed hands on the day.
Other toppers of the market were Bangladesh Steel Re-Rolling Mills Limited, RAK Ceramics (Bangladesh) Limited, United Power Generation & Distribution Company Ltd., MJL Bangladesh Limited, Orion Infusion Ltd., Doreen Power Generations and Systems Limited, British American Tobacco Bangladesh, Unique Hotel & Resorts Limited and Keya Cosmetics.
Meanwhile, the CSE also followed the trend as CSCX, the prime index of the port city bourse, acquired over 79.77 points to stand at 8179.50 on Wednesday.
Of the issues traded in the port city share market, 167 advanced, 54 declined while 19 remained unchanged. The total value of exchange was over Tk1221.39 million.
