Bourses see up at opening

DHAKA: The two bourses of the country -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – are witnessing gain in share prices indices at the opening hours on Thursday (May 19), the final trading session of the week.

DSEX, the prime index of DSE, gained over 31.98 points or 0.78 percent to stand at 4396.29 points at 12:21pm.

Trade deals stood at 58,506 with transaction at over Tk 2,058.58 million. Of the issues traded, 202 advanced, 38 declined while 40 remained unchanged.

Shahjibazar Power Co. Ltd. topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk165.34 million having changed hands till then.

Other toppers of the market were Lafarge Surma Cement Ltd., Bangladesh Steel Re-Rolling Mills Limited, Emerald Oil Industries Ltd., Khan Brothers PP Woven Bag Industries Limited, United Power Generation & Distribution Company Ltd., Titas Gas Transmission & Dist. Co. Ltd., Doreen Power Generations and Systems Limited, BSRM Steels Limited and IFAD Autos Limited.

Meanwhile, the CSE also followed the trend as CSCX, the prime index of the port city bourse, acquired over 60.15 points to stand at 8233.10 till 12:18pm on Thursday.

Of the issues traded in the port city share market, 123 advanced, 28 declined while 30 remained unchanged. The total value of exchange was over Tk126.47 million.
