DHAKA: Finland and Bangladesh will have greater economic and business ties in the future, since now such an individual will be representing Finland, who is not only known in Bangladesh but also abroad as a successful entrepreneur.
The visiting Ambassador of Finland to India and Bangladesh Aapo Polho stated this regarding Muhammed Aziz Khan, Chairman, Summit Group and his recent appointment as Honorary Consul General of Finland in Dhaka.
Polho was addressing a reception held in his honour at a hotel in city on Tuesday (May 31).
Earlier in the day, Ambassador Aapo Polho inaugurated the Honorary Consulate General Office at Summit Centre, in city’s Kawran Bazar.
Recalling Aziz Khan’s long standing business relationship with Finland, the Ambassador said that the most suitable person had been chosen to represent Finland in Bangladesh.
He also expressed the hope that economic and cultural relations between the two countries will continue to be greatly strengthened in the future.
Muhammed Aziz Khan has recently been appointed as the Honorary Consul General of Finland in Bangladesh. The appointment has been effective as of 3rd April 2016, upon the issuing of an Exequatur from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladesh.
In his welcome speech, Aziz Khan said that the friendship between Bangladesh and Finland will grow closer in the future.
He mentioned that Finnish equipment and machinery are well reputed in energy and power sector of Bangladesh and Finland has had a significant contribution in the economic development of the country.
The reception was attended by environment and forests minister Anwar Hossain Monju, Prime Minister’s power, energy and mineral resources adviser Dr. Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury and state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak.
Besides, former ministers Faruk Khan MP, Abdur Razzaq MP, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, M. Morshed Khan, Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, and other prominent political figures, government and non-government high-ups, diplomats, dignitaries, businesspersons, journalists, and representatives of civil society also attended the program.
