Bourses witness loss Sunday

DHAKA: The two bourses of the country -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- witnessed loss in share price indices on Sunday (June 5), the first trading session of the week.

DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), shed over 20.19 points or 0.45 percent to stand at 4425.89 points at the end of day’s trading.

Trade deals stood at 86,706 with transaction at over Tk 3078.72 million. Of the issues traded, 71 advanced, 190 declined and 53 remained unchanged.

Bangladesh Steel Re-Rolling Mills Limited topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 209.28 million having changed hands on the day.

Other toppers of the market were Lafarge Surma Cement Ltd, Titas Gas Transmission & Dist. Co. Ltd, Shahjibazar Power Co. Ltd, Doreen Power Generations and Systems Limited, Khan Brothers PP Woven Bag Industries Limited, United Airways (BD) Ltd, GPH Ispat Ltd, Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Ltd and United Power Generation & Distribution Company Ltd.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also followed the suit, as CSCX, the prime index of the port city bourse, lost over 45.18 points to stand at 8284.51 points on the day.

Of the issues traded in the port city share market, 55 gained, 140 declined and 29 remained unchanged. The total value of exchange was over Tk 215.52 million.
