Markets see deflation Monday

DHAKA: The two bourses of the country -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- witnessed loss in share price indices for the second consecutive day on Monday (June 6), the second trading session of the week.

DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), shed over 14.96 points or 0.33 percent to stand at 4410.93 points at the end of day’s trading.

Trade deals stood at 75,079 with transaction at over Tk 2826.25 million. Of the issues traded, 78 advanced, 191 declined and 47 remained unchanged.

Shahjibazar Power Co. Ltd Limited topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 159.89 million having changed hands on the day.

Other toppers of the market were Lafarge Surma Cement Ltd, Bangladesh Steel Re-Rolling Mills Limited, Titas Gas Transmission & Dist. Co. Ltd, Khan Brothers PP Woven Bag Industries Limited, Far Chemical Industries Limited, British American Tobacco Bangladesh, The Ibn Sina, Doreen Power Generations and Systems Limited and Tosrifa Industries Limited.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also followed the suit, as CSCX, the prime index of the port city bourse, lost over 23.68 points to stand at 8260.83 points on the day.

Of the issues traded in the port city share market, 58 gained, 140 declined and 23 remained unchanged. The total value of exchange was over Tk 187.01 million.
