DHAKA: Robi, as one of the leading digital service providers of the country, has brought a solution to the inconvenience of getting train tickets to visit their near and dear ones across the country during the eid holidays.
The train ticketing service has been operational since January 2016, says a press release issued by the service provider on Wednesday (June 22).
Robi subscribers just need to first book for the train tickets by dialing *131# from their mobile phones.
Then through a user friendly process the users will be requested to provide the journey date, preferred start station to start the journey, preferred destination station, the train, ticket class and the preferred ticket option combination.
At the end of the ticket booking process the user will instantly receive an SMS with the booking code stating the amount to be paid for completing the purchasing process.
Within 30 minutes of receiving the SMS, the user needs to make the payment at any of the 12,000 RobiCash Points in the country.
If the passengers desire, they can complete the entire process of ticket purchase through mobile phone using Robi SIM from these agent points also.
Following the payment the user will receive an e-Ticket number in SMS.
This SMS needs to be shown at the railway station (e-Ticket counter) to collect the printed ticket.
Robi requested the passengers to collect their paper-based ticket at least one hour before the departure time of the train.
This e-Ticket service is available at 52 railway stations across the country, meaning that almost the entire railway travelers can make use of this convenient service.
The service charge for purchasing each seat has been set at Tk 20 by the Bangladesh Railway Authority.
The train ticket purchased is not transferrable to others and only two transactions to a single mobile number in a month are allowed.
This mobile based train ticketing solution is available between 9:00am to 10:00pm for seven days a week.
Customers can purchase advance Five (05) days ticket before journey day.
