DHAKA: The proposal to merge country’s two mobile phone operators -- Robi Axiata Ltd and Airtel -- has got the approval of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Posts and telecommunication division secretary Md. Faizur Rahman Chowdhury confirmed the matter to banglanews on Monday (August 1).
He further said the proposal will be sent to Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and wait for their directives in this regard.
On July 13, finance minister AMA Muhith and state minister for posts and telecommunication affairs Tarana Halim hold a meeting and fixed Tk 100 crore as the merger fee.
