DHAKA: The United Kingdom (UK) is interested to invest in Payra seaport and Dhaka-Barisal railway track in Bangladesh.

The UK high commissioner Alison Blake expressed the interest while calling on commerce minister Tofail Ahmed at the ministry in city on Thursday (August 4).

“The UK businesspeople are interested to invest in Payra seaport and Dhaka-Barisal railway in Dhaka-Barisal railway track in Bangladesh,” the envoy said.

Regarding terrorism, Blake said that it is a global challege. “We did not issue any ban to the British businesspeople for visiting Bangladesh. Rather we have suggested them to move safely.”

On Brexit, the UK high commissioner remarked, “Despite Brexit, the UK is a European state and the Brexit will not hamper business between the two countries”.

According to her, security in Bangladesh airports has enhanced and there are also many scopes to improve the security.
