DHAKA: US shares opened higher on Tuesday for the first time in three sessions as the market shook off its summer torpor.
In the opening minutes, the Dow Jones went up 91.43 points to 18,529.42, reports the BBC.
The wider S&P 500 was up 9.79 points at 2,192.43 and the tech-heavy Nasdaq index gained 22.28 points to 5,266.88.
Biggest gainer was electronics retail chain Best Buy, which added more than 16% after announcing a 21% rise in quarterly profit.
“We saw continued positive momentum in our online sales,”' said Best Buy’s chairman and chief executive, Hubert Joly.
“We also continued to deliver cost savings and drive efficiencies in the business.”
