DHAKA: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal inaugurated a LED (light-emitting diode) Light Bulbs manufacturing factory of Walton Group at Walton Micro-Tech Corporation in Chandra of Gazipur on Saturday (September 10).
He said, “Walton has won the hearts of Bangladeshi people. As much as I see Walton, I become amazed.”
“All their products are well standard. Walton has made an industrial revelation in a very short time by increasing investment in research and development. Walton products are being exported in various countries in the world which is a matter of pride for our country.”
The minister Asaduzzaman made the statement while talking to journalists after inauguration.
While reporters drew his attention to the fact that investors have to pay higher duty in importing raw materials for manufacturing LED lights than complete LED lights, the minister said, “The incumbent government is industrial friendly. The government will do everything possible for the development of the country”.
“These kinds of issues can be fixed through talks between the government and the entrepreneurs,” he added, a press release said.
Praising Walton, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, “Walton understands the demands and tastes of people very well. According to that, they have secured a strong position in local market by presenting the consumers world standard products. Every month, they release new products in markets”.
Earlier in the morning, the home minister was cordially welcomed by the top officials of Walton Group upon his arrival at the factory.
Managing Director to Walton Group, SM Shamsul Alam, Directors SM Rezaul Alam and Tahmina Afrose, Executive Director SM Zahid Hasan, Senior Operative Director Lt Col. (Rtd) AM Kader, Operative Director Uday Hakim and Media Advisor Enayet Ferdous were among others present on the occasion.
Prior to the inauguration, the Home Minister enjoyed a corporate documentary on Walton and visited Product Display Centre. He, then, inaugurated the LED light manufacturing factory at the premises of Walton Micro-Tech Corporation.
The minister also visited Television Panel Assembly Line, SMT (Surface Mount Technology) Line, Television Production Unit, Foundry and Casting Project, Refrigerator Production Unit, Mould and Die Section and other production units of Home and Electrical Appliances.
