Bourses witness gain at opening

DHAKA: The two bourses of the country -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) –witnessed gain in share price indices on Sunday (September 18), the first trading session of the week.

DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), rose over 15.00 points or 0.32 percent to stand at 4616.09 points round 1:34pm.

Trade deals stood at 48,651 with transaction at over Tk 1885.61 million. Of the issues traded, 132 advanced, 117 declined and 63 remained unchanged.

Lafarge Surma Cement Ltd. topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 190.36 million having changed hands on the day.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also followed the suit, as CSCX, the prime index of the port city bourse, gain over 40.73 points to stand at 8657.93 points at 1:22pm.

Of the issues traded in the port city share market, 87 gained, 64 declined and 31 remained unchanged.

The total value of exchange was over Tk 262.70 million.
