Man dies in Lakshmipur after truck hits auto-rickshaw

A battery-run auto-rickshaw driver was killed and another injured after being hit by a truck in Lakshmipur. 

The accident occurred early Friday (Nov 8) on the Lakshmipur-Dhaka Regional Highway near Joksin Bazar in the Sadar upazila.

Abdul Munnaf, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Model Police Station, confirmed the matter.

He said that no complaint had been filed yet, but legal action would be taken if a complaint is lodged.

The deceased, Abu Taher, 50, was from Laharikandi village in Laharikandi union of Lakshmipur Sadar upazila and was the son of Aziz Ullah.

According to the police and locals, Taher was driving his auto-rickshaw towards Joksin Bazar when a truck coming from the opposite direction struck the vehicle. Both Abu Taher and his passenger Suman were severely injured in the collision. They were rushed to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared Taher dead on arrival.
