A total of 191 platoons of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed nationwide, including in the capital, to control the law and order situation.
Shariful islam, public relations officer of BGB, confirmed the information today to the media.
Earlier, the Awami League urged its leaders and activists to gather at the same place at 3:00pm to observe the Shaheed Noor Hossain Day.
Later, on Saturday (Nov 9), the student movement against discrimination has announced a mass gathering at Zero Point in Dhaka's Gulistan area at 12:00pm today.
However, students from the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and other political party’s activists began gathering at the location overnight.
The Awami League has not held any public activities since being ousted by a student and public uprising on August 5 this year.
