At least four people were killed and 20 others injured in two separate road accidents on the Dhaka-Mawa expressway.
According to highway police, the first accident occurred around 5:00 am at the Hasara point, when a collision took place between a bus and a truck on the Dhaka-bound lane. Two people were killed, but their identities remain unknown.
In the second accident, which happened around 11:30 am on Thursday on the Mawa-bound lane at Nimtala, a minibus crashed into a covered van, resulting in two deaths. The victims have been identified as Md Jibon, a helper for the Abdullah Paribahan bus, and Md Rayhan, a passenger.
A total of 20 people were injured in both incidents and have been rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The accidents caused significant traffic disruptions as authorities cleared the wreckage and began investigations.
