Error found in Abu Sayeed's death date in English textbook

An error regarding the date of martyrdom of Abu Sayeed, a victim of police firing during the quota reform movement, has been identified in the English textbook for classes 9-10.

The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) said in the "Graffiti" chapter that Abu Sayeed was killed on July 17, 2014, in Rangpur. However, the correct date is July 16, 2014.

This discrepancy was pointed out as the Bengali literature textbook for the same grade correctly mentions July 16 in a chapter titled "Amader Notun Gaurabgantha."

When questioned about the inconsistency, NCTB Chairman Professor AKM Riazul Hasan acknowledged the mistake and assured that it would be reviewed and corrected.

He said that an amendment would be issued, and the online version of the textbook would be updated promptly.

Abu Sayeed, an English department student at Begum Rokeya University, was killed on July 16 during police firing.
