Former National Board of Revenue (NBR) official Matiur Rahman was arrested on Tuesday (Jan 15) in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), following controversy over his son's Tk 15 lakh goat purchase.
DMP's Detective Branch also arrested his first wife, former upazila chairman Layla Kaniz, along with him.
Muhammad Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner for media and public relations at DMP, confirmed the matter.
He, however, did not provide further details in this regard.
Matiur Rahman had retired early last year amid corruption allegations following the extravagant Eid-ul-Azha purchase.
