Dhaka: A seven-year-old slum child was killed as a bus ran over him in the city’s Basila area under Mohammadpur Thana on Wednesday midnight.

Witnesses said the accident took place while Arif incautiously went on the road near Basila Bridge and the recklessly driven bus ran over him. He died on the spot.

Agitated slum-dwellers tried to block the road in a backlash, but police rushed in and took the situation under control.

Mohammadpur Thana police said the driver of the bus managed to flee. Police seized the bus.

The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue.
A case was filed.
