Jamalpur: Land Minister Rezaul Karim Hira Saturday disclosed that the government has decided to return the vested property and the acquired lands lying abandoned to the real owners or their successors.
He also said his ministry would try its level best to reclaim some 2.5 lakh acres of land occupied by grabbers.
The land minister further told his audience at a function in his hometown that 1,500 more new primary schools would be set up across the country as the present government has laid maximum importance on education for realizing the “Vision 2021”.
He made the disclosures while addressing a discussion on “Our duty to implement Vision 2021” at Nandina Model Academy High School ground in Sadar upazila.
The minister assured of establishing a Polytechnic and a Textile Institute in the district, often hard hit by river erosion.
Among others, Jamalpur Police Super Mahfuzul Islam, Upazila chairman Bijon Kumar Chanda and local leaders were present.
Earlier on Friday night, the minister, as the chief guest, attended an annual cultural program organized by Bangladesh Bhumi Officers Kalyan Samity at Jamalpur Shilpakala Academy auditorium.
Among others, Deputy Commissioner Sirajuddin Ahmed, police super Mahfuzul Islam, UNO Mohammad Alamgir, Mrinal Kanti Deb, Assistant Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Kabir Al Asad and AMD Jahangir Kabir were present at the function.
