DHAKA: Leaders of RMG workers Sunday urged the foreign buyers and international community to ensure fair price for Bangladeshi products.
They also called for ensuring fundamental human rights of the workers.
"We are calling upon the buyers and international community to ensure fair price for our products as wages are linked to fair price of products," Amirul Haque Amin, President of National Garment Workers Federation (NGWF) told a press conference.
The NGWF organized the conference at Dhaka Reporters` Unity.
Amirul alleged that the buyers try to influence price of garments products for limitations persisting in the sector.
Citing examples, he said buyers buy a dozen of shirt from Bangladesh at a cost of US$ 8 to US$ 10 and sell the product in the US and European market at US $50 to US $ 60.
The NGWF also demanded full ration, free medical facilities and dormitories for the workers immediately.
Sramik Karmachary Oikya Parisad leader Shafi Uddin Ahmed, Kader Hawlder and Safia Parvin were present.
