DHAKA: A court here on Monday granted three days’ police remand for quizzing ruling-party lawmaker Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shaon`s driver Kalam Hossain Kala and personal assistant Sohel over the murder of Awami League activist Ibrahim Ahmed.
Metropolitan Magistrate Zulfiker Hayat passed the remand order as investigating officer of the case Shah Moshiur Rahman produced them before the court with 10 days` remand plea.
A local Awami League Leader and probable city corporation councilor candidate from DCC Ward No 56, Ibrahim died from a pistol shot in Sangsad Bhaban area between 6pm and 8:30pm on August 13. It was reportedly the MP’s licensed pistol.
Later, the bullet-hit body of Ibrahim was found in Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue.
Following the death of Ibrahim, his brother Masum Ahmed filed a murder case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station against eight persons, including Shaon and his driver, on August 18.
