DHAKA: Labour and Employment Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain Wednesday asked recruiting agencies not to destroy the overseas labour market through cheating, as some nefarious scams came to light.
"Some recruiting agencies are sending manpower on `jiarat visa`. As a result, the opportunities are fading out for Bangladesh even before being created," said the minister.
He was addressing an Iftar party organized by Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) at a hotel in the city.
He had a piece of good news to break for job-seekers: An opportunity of a large labour market would be created soon in Iraq after the new government takes office in the war-ravaged gulf country.
"We should not destroy the opportunity," he said.
He urged the BAIRA to provide information about the persons involved in sending manpower on jiarat visa.
"Legal action will be taken against them," said the minister.
