DHAKA: President Zillur Rahman has summoned the next session of parliament at 4pm on September 20, against the backdrop of some major developments in the country’s political scenario.
“The President summoned the parliament as per Article 72 (1) of the Bangladesh Constitution,” said an official announcement Thursday.
This session in the autumn will be the sixth of the ninth parliament, elected after a lapse of two years for state of emergency in the country following a political crisis over election issues.
The fifth session of the parliament, which was the second budgetary session under the present Awami League-led Grand Alliance government, ended on July 22 with the main opposition BNP staying away from the valedictory proceedings for their long boycott of the House.
