6 killed in road mishaps in Comilla, Brahmanbaria, Meherpur

DHAKA: Six people were killed in road accidents in Comilla, Brahmanbaria and Meherpur districts Saturday as badly driven buses ran over them.

In Comilla, four people, including a motorcyclist, were killed in separate road crashes.

Officer-in-Charge of Chandani thana Nurul Absar said, “A Chandpur-bound passenger bus ran down two pedestrians in Kutumbaupur area under Chandani upazila at around 11am, leaving them dead on the spot.”

Police seized the killer bus.

Besides, a Dhaka-bound bus knocked down a motorcycle in front of Kutumbapur filling station at around 12:30pm. The two riders of the motorcycle died instantly. Identities of the victims were not known immediately, Nurul said.

Brahmanbaria: A speedy bus ran over a 10-year-old baby on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Islampur in Bijoynagar upazila at 7am, said sergeant Sarwar Alam of Khatihata highway police camp.

A motorcyclist was killed on Meherpir-Kushtia highway in Mirpur upazila of Meherpur district.

Witnesses said two motorcyclists, Gias Uddin and his friend, were going to Kushtia for Eid shopping. Suddenly, they fell on the highway from the motorcycle and a speedy bus ran over Gias. He was severely injured.

Later, the injured died on way to Kushtia General Hospital.
