PM declares schemes for underprivileged childrenÔÇÖs education

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Saturday announced that the government would take up schemes to ensure education and healthcare of the underprivileged children.

“The government is working for underprivileged, physically challenged and street children. Projects will be undertaken to ensure their education and health services and a beautiful future,” she said at a prize-giving ceremony in the city.

Children from districts and upazilas will also be brought under the project.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Museum organized the prize-warding function at Osmani Memorial Auditorium.

She also informed that a trust would be formed to ensure full-free studentship of poor children up to graduate level along with scholarship.

The Prime Minister asked the people concerned not to engage children in risky work and not to torture them anyway.

Recalling the killings on August 15, 1975 amid a military putsch, the premier said, “Not only my parents were killed that day but also our house was looted.”

She added: “I came to know from abroad that all of my family members were killed.”
