Court issues arrest warrant against Qureshi

DHAKA: A Labour Court Sunday issued an arrest warrant against Ferdous Ahmed Qureshi, Publisher and Editor of the Daily Desh Bangla, in a case of nonpayment of salary and bonus.

Magistrate Mofizul Islam of the court ordered the arrest of Qureshi, who made name floating what used to be called ‘king’s party’ during the emergency rule.

Eight journalists of the daily filed the case with the labour court against him.

It was stated in the case that he has been not paying salary for a long time.

“He assured us of paying salary several times but failed,” says the case statement.

Earlier, the court had issued summons against him but he did not appear before the court.

Qureshi formed `Progressive Democratic Party (PDP)’ during the last army-backed caretaker government and became coordinator of the party.
