Rivalry over sehri songs: Kasida man killed in city

DHAKA: A member of a ‘kasida’ team, which sings religious songs to wake up Muslims during Sehri time, was beaten to death by his rivals in the city`s Hazaribagh area early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Kalu Mia, 30, of Nimtoli under Hazaribagh thana.
 
SI Kazi Mainul Haque of Hazaribagh thana said Kalu Mia was beaten to death by the members of another kasida party in the area.

“The two groups had a conflict over the issue of the awaking of the devotees during sehri time,” he said.
 
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue.
