DHAKA: Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner AKM Shahidul Haque Tuesday said police members are sincerely discharging their duties to ensure a hassle-free journey for the homebound people, which would continue over three more days after Eid-ul-Fitr.

The city police boss spoke of the security plan while visiting Gabtali Bus Terminal here in the afternoon, amid a big pre-eid rush.

Officials of DMP Mirpur Zone and Traffic (West) and leaders of Bus-Truck Owners’ Association were present.

Shahidul Haque also informed that the law enforcers have been asked to be on the alert at every bus terminal in the city “to stop charging extra fare by bus staffers, harassment by porters and toll taking by extortionists.

The DMP Commissioner checked the fare inscribed on the passengers’ tickets with the charge fixed by the Bus-Truck Owners’ Association.
