CHITTAGONG: Chief Engineer of Chittagong power office Mohammad Abu Taher was Thursday sent packing for "neglect of his duty" in running the newly commissioned Shikalbaha power plant, official sources said.
He was attached to Power Development Board (PDB) Dhaka office.
He was removed under a punitive measure as the Shikalbaha power plant shut down just four hours after inauguration on Wednesday morning, the sources said.
But Alamgir Kabir, Chairman of the PDB, termed it a ‘routine transfer’.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formally inaugurated the 150-megawatt Shikalbaha Peaking Power Plant in Chittagong.
The newly commissioned peaking power plant tripped just four hours after it was inaugurated.
