Convicted BDR mutineer dies in Thakurgaon

THAKURGAON: A convicted BDR mutineer died of severe chest pain in Thakurgaon District Jail on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Selim Mia, 40, son of Abdul Jalil, hailed from Birampur village under Sreemangal upazila in Moulvibazar district.

Sources said he was rushed to Thakurgaon Sadar Modern Hospital with chest pain at around 10:30am and the duty doctor declared him dead.

Jailer of the Jail Ismail Hossain told banglanews that his body would be sent to his village home after autopsy under the supervision of 20 Rifles Battalion.

Major Munir of the battalion said the process of sending the deceased would be started in the evening.

The Special Tribunal-2 sentenced Selim Mia, a soldier of the battalion, to five years in jail for his involvement in the bloody BDR mutiny of 2009.
