DHAKA: Two people were killed in separate mishaps in city’s Utarra and Mohammadpur areas on Monday night, including a road accident at a time when the capital’s streets still looked half-deserted for eid-festival hangover.

The deceased were Sharif Uddin, 40, and Jewel Rana, 20, residents of Azampur and Kalyanpur.

Victims’ family DMCH sources said that a minibus crushed a motorcycle carrying Sharif at Abdullahpur at around 9:30 pm, leaving him injured fatally. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead at 11 pm.

A case was filed with Uttara thana in connection with the incident. However, police could not arrest the killer vehicle and its driver.

Meanwhile, Rana was electrocuted at around 9:15 pm when he went to dry wet lungi and napkin on electric wire at his Kolyanpur residence.
