Deputy police commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (south) Mahbubur Rahman told banglanews that all documents of the case would be sent to the CID headquarters “by today or tomorrow”.
The directive came from higher levels of the government as allegations of negligence, partiality, and exerting influence over investigation into the case were raised.
The deceased’s family expressed their satisfaction over the government decision to transfer the case to the CID.
A local Awami League leader and probable city corporation councilor candidate from DCC Ward No 56, Ibrahim died from a pistol fire in Sangsad Bhaban area on August 13. It was reportedly the MP’s licensed pistol.
